Once the leaves begin to fall from the trees and the chilly air convinces you to stay at home, there is nothing quite like curling up with a warm mug. Adding a fuzzy blanket doesn’t hurt either. In case you want to switch up your usual cup of tea or coffee, here are a few yummy drinks that are as easy to make as they are to enjoy.
Perfect Hot Chocolate
Hot cocoa is the drink for cold weather. There are so many ways to make it: you can use chocolate syrup, chocolate powder like Nesquik, a store-bought hot cocoa mix or an actual chocolate bar. Whichever you choose, add some vanilla and heavy cream to make it extra rich. Don’t forget some mini marshmallows!
Pumpkin Spice Latte
Sure, the PSL gets a bad rap because it’s so “basic” but it makes the perfect fall drink. To make this iconic beverage, you’ll need pumpkin puree (either from an actual pumpkin or canned), coffee, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ginger and other spices you like. Don’t forget to top it off with whipped cream and sprinkle a little cinnamon over it for that perfect Instagram shot.
Argentinian Hot Chocolate aka “Submarino”
This drink was my favorite as a child, not only because of the yummy taste but also because how fun it was to make. You need a mug of very hot milk, preferably a glass one to see the show unfold. Insert a long piece of dark chocolate and wait for it to melt. The baking kind of chocolate usually works well, as other kinds might not give you the same result. Stir as necessary.
Salted Caramel Mocha
Fulfill all your salted caramel Pinterest dreams with this super simple drink. I prefer dulce de leche (especially the Havanna brand) to any other caramel syrup or sauce, but it’s up to you! Add some to your coffee along with some cocoa powder and a pinch of sea salt. Top with whipped cream, drizzle caramel over it and you’re done!
This drink, hailing from Valencia, Spain, is for those with a sweet tooth. The bonbon coffee is equal parts condensed milk and coffee, usually espresso. If you want a milder version, add some condensed milk to your cup of coffee to mix it up.
